Jakarta, November 29, 2023 - GoTo Group ("the Company" or "Group"), the largest digital ecosystem in Indonesia, has launched new features on the Gojek and Tokopedia applications that are friendly to individuals with color vision impairments, also medically known as color vision deficiency.1 The new features in these two applications complement the user experience of the GoPay application, which has been designed following international accessibility standards. With the introduction of these color vision impairment-friendly features, unveiled ahead of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, GoTo Group is realizing its commitment to providing an inclusive digital ecosystem for application users at large, as part of the Company's Three Zeros Sustainability Commitment.

Tanah Sullivan, Head of Sustainability at GoTo Group, explained, "In line with our Three Zeros sustainability commitment, especially Zero Barriers, these new features on Gojek and Tokopedia are expected to assist application users with color vision impairments in choosing display modes that best suit their needs. These new features adjust the screen colors and create higher contrast between text and background, improving readability and reducing eye strain, especially in brightly lit environments according to AAA contrast standards, the highest accessibility standard, from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)."

Herman Widjaja, Chief Technology Officer at GoTo Group, stated, "Creating technology that promotes inclusive progress for all is one of GoTo's primary goals as a digital ecosystem. Therefore, we continuously strive to innovate to enhance the experience of all application users, including those with special needs. The launch of color vision impairment-friendly features in the Gojek and Tokopedia applications, as well as the design of the GoPay application following international accessibility standards, is part of GoTo's ongoing efforts. We hope these inclusive features can assist more people and further eliminate barriers for application users."

This development strengthens GoTo Group's status as a pioneer in digital inclusivity in Indonesia through the Gojek, Tokopedia, and GoPay applications, with a high dedication to effectively serving application users, regardless of their physical abilities. In addition to being available in Indonesia, the high-contrast mode on the Gojek application can also be activated by application users in Vietnam and Singapore.

"The implementation of these features not only addresses the urgent needs of users with color vision impairments but also establishes accessibility standards in the digital industry, reinforcing our role as a leader in creating an inclusive digital ecosystem. We hope that more people can experience the various conveniences within the GoTo ecosystem," added Tanah.

Features Available on the Gojek, Tokopedia, and GoPay Platforms

  • The Gojek application provides a high-contrast mode that can be used by users with total color blindness (monochromacy).
  • The Tokopedia application and website offer color vision impairment-friendly features that can be used by users with partial red-green and blue-yellow color vision impairments.
  • The GoPay application is designed following WCAG contrast standards through options of bright (light mode) and dark color displays for the convenience of application users.

Fardhan Ramzy, a GoTo application user and a colorblind survivor, expressed great appreciation for GoTo's new color vision impairment-friendly features, "As a partial colorblind survivor, I highly appreciate GoTo's efforts through the Tokopedia and Gojek applications to create features relevant to various groups, including colorblind survivors. With these features, my online transactions through Tokopedia and Gojek have become more comfortable and easy."
