Jakarta, 9 August 2021 -- GoTo, Indonesia’s largest technology group, today announced that it will donate over 1,000 oxygen concentrators to support Indonesia’s fight against COVID-19. The oxygen concentrators will be distributed in batches to hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country to fulfill oxygen supply needs. As part of the first phase of the donation, the first 200 oxygen concentrator units were delivered today through GoTo’s non-profit organization, Yayasan Anak Bangsa Bisa (YABB), to Indonesia’s Ministry of Health.

“As we continue our collective fight against the pandemic, we are grateful to GoTo for its donation of oxygen concentrators. These will be beneficial in helping hospitals across the country expand their oxygen care for COVID-19 patients who need it the most,” says Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Health for Indonesia. “Collaboration and partnership between the Indonesian Government and industry stakeholders is key to strengthening our pandemic response and we deeply appreciate GoTo’s help.”

In the next phase of the donation, the oxygen concentrators will be allocated to the Gotong Royong Oxygen House program that was started in Jakarta in July, to ease the pressure on Government-run and privately-managed hospitals. GoTo will also partner with venture capital firm Sequoia India and start-ups under Sequoia India to distribute the oxygen concentrators, in coordination with the Ministry of Health.

The first Gotong Royong Oxygen House was built in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, Indonesia, and was initiated by GoTo, the Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (KADIN Indonesia) and the Samator Group, with support from PT Master Steel, Tripatra Engineering, Halodoc and YABB. The facility is equipped with treatment beds to accommodate 500 COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms, and each bed is supplied with oxygen piped directly from the Samator gas production plant. At launch, the Gotong Royong Oxygen House was also visited by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who expressed his appreciation for the joint efforts and support from industry players in establishing the facility to support the fight against COVID-19.

Andre Soelistyo, CEO of GoTo Group said, “Mutual cooperation (gotong royong), which has always been part of the identity of Indonesians, is vital for us to tackle the pandemic collectively as a nation. Together with our partners, we hope our contribution can boost the Government’s pandemic response. The donation of the oxygen concentrators follows our launch of the Gotong Royong Oxygen House earlier this year, and is part of our ongoing efforts since the beginning of the pandemic to support the Indonesian Government, healthcare workers, our partners and employees.”
