  • The service is available on GoTransit in the Gojek app and will encourage more people to take multi-modal trips.
  • GoTransit usage has increased 20 fold since the ticket purchase service was first rolled out a month ago.

Jakarta, June 22, 2022 – Gojek, Southeast Asia’s leading mobile on-demand services platform, has announced a collaboration with Indonesia’s largest public transportation network operator, PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (PT KCI), to enable consumers to purchase KRL Commuter Line tickets via the Gojek app. The service, which was first rolled out on GoTransit in the Gojek app a month ago, will make it easier for people to plan multimodal trips, and is in line with the Indonesian Government’s vision to promote public transport usage.

Through the service, train tickets can be bought and paid for seamlessly with GoPay or LinkAja on the GoTransit page. A QR code will then be generated, which can be used to enter and exit all gates at KRL Commuter Line stations. The service also allows the purchase of up to 10 tickets at once, enabling greater convenience for group travel.

This latest enhancement complements the other existing benefits offered by GoTransit:

  • Optimizing the trip planning experience

GoTransit helps consumers to plan their commutes by enabling them to choose the best routes, compare prices for different public transportation modes, estimate travel time, and monitor public transport operational schedules.

  • Enabling multimodal transport

Besides buying KRL Commuter Line tickets on the Gojek app, consumers can also use Gojek’s transportation services, such as GoRide, GoCar or GoBluebird, to travel to and from public transport stations. GoTransit facilitates this process by showing the most efficient multimodal routes.

In line with its commitment to make it easier for people to use public transport, Gojek is also continuing to work towards more convenient multimodal services. In the future, consumers will be able to purchase bundled tickets on GoTransit, with Gojek providing first and last mile services, while public transportation serves as the middle mile.

Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, Director of GoTo and Head of Indonesia Sales and Operations at Gojek, said, “Presently, one out of two Gojek consumers have used GoRide and GoCar to connect to public transport. With GoTransit’s latest integration, consumers can now purchase KRL Commuter Line tickets with even greater ease directly through the Gojek application. This will enhance user convenience on our platform, while promoting usage of public transportation. We are heartened to see the positive response from consumers so far, with GoTransit usage having increased by 20 times since the new service was first introduced at the end of May. ”

Roppiq Lutzfi Azhar, PT KCI President Director, said, “The latest collaboration between PT KCI and GoTo, through Gojek, will benefit up to 1.2 million commuters who use the KRL Commuter Line everyday. By leveraging Gojek’s wide reach, we hope that the service will encourage more people to use public transport and improve the commuting experience for members of the public. This also complements Gojek’s existing efforts to facilitate access to public transport, with many people already using Gojek’s services to commute to and from KRL Commuter Line stations. With this collaboration, we will be able to accelerate progress to meet our target of serving 2 million commuters a day.”

Budi Karya Sumadi, Indonesia’s Transportation Minister, said: “In 2020, the Transportation Ministry reported that only 25% of people in Jakarta used public transport services. To encourage more people to use public transport, we believe that multimodal solutions and transit-oriented development (TOD) points, such as those being introduced by Gojek and PT KCI, will be crucial. In line with this, we greatly appreciate Gojek and PT KCI’s commitment to introduce new transport innovations via GoTransit.”

Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Indonesia’s State-Owned Enterprises Deputy Minister II said, “We appreciate Gojek’s efforts to enhance public transport standards and usage through its collaboration with PT KCI, a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia. The partnership complements the existing public transport services provided by Indonesia’s SOEs, given that connectivity and integration are important factors when it comes to creating quality transportation services. This is also in line with our mission to serve the community in Indonesia.”

To encourage more people to integrate public transport into their commutes, Gojek is now offering discount vouchers for GoRide and GoCar users who purchase tickets or complete KRL Commuter Line trips via GoTransit.

GoTransit is also part of GoTo’s Three Zeros sustainability commitment, specifically Zero Emissions. With GoTransit, the company aims to help reduce emissions produced by private vehicles by enabling more convenient usage of public transport, with Gojek’s transportation services serving as the first and last mile.
