Jakarta, December 14, 2022 - Digital transformation is increasingly important for MSME players to increase their competitiveness, especially in facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Economic Forum 2021 discussed how MSME income declined by 80% to 90% during the pandemic. One of the factors was the lack of business management acumen.
To solve the problem, GoBiz, an app with a variety of business solutions from Gojek, has consistently supported MSMEs in the culinary sector amid the pandemic through digital business development. Through GoBiz, Gojek has been carrying out various programs to support MSMEs. This time, Gojek launched the GoBiz #JalanPinterJualan campaign to help its culinary MSME partners to grow sustainably through a series of business education and community efforts.
Since first launched in 2018, GoBiz has been connecting culinary MSMEswith customers. In the last four years, GoBiz app has gone through continuous improvements and is now becoming the main gateway for culinary MSMEs to access various solutions and reach millions of customers within the GoTo ecosystem. It is reflected in the 45% increase in GoBiz users in the past year.
Head of Platform & GoFood Merchant Marketing Gojek, Felicia Wijaya, said, “RIght from the beginning, Gojek has been committed to being the best partner to accelerate MSME business. We are realizing this commitment through the GoBiz app. It accompanies culinary MSMEs’ journey in selling on online platforms - from upstream to downstream, starting from free and fast in-app registration, to marketing and managing culinary product promo strategies on GoFood and on GoFood at Tokopedia. GoBiz also makes it easier to manage business operations digitally through GoKasir as well as to improve business financial management through GoModal by Findaya and integration with Bank Jago. It also enables merchants to accept digital payments through GoPay and provide them access to a series of education and training to improve their business skills.”
Christina Agustin, Assistant Deputy for Information Technology Development and Business Incubation at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, underlined the importance of digital platforms' role in advancing MSMEs. “As of October 2022, 20.5 million MSMEs have gone digital and 83% of national MSMEs rely on digitalization. It proves the important role of digital platforms for the development of MSMEs, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. We appreciate Gojek’s initiative which has enabled culinary MSMEs to go digital through the GoBiz application with such ease. GoBiz and its numerous digital business solutions can certainly stimulate culinary MSMEs to further scale up from all sides of the business,” said Christina.
GoBiz has brought a number of positive impacts on its culinary MSME partners, including: 1) An average increase of almost 30% in the number of branches owned by culinary MSME partners on GoBiz app during the pandemic transition period from January 2021 to September 2022; 2) 1 out of 4 culinary MSMEs on GoBiz has succeeded in creating new jobs, as seen from the use of the in-app employee role feature.
GoBiz #JalanPinterJualan Campaign: A Continuation of Gojek’s Commitment to Support the Growth of Culinary MSMEs
The GoBiz #JalanPinterJualan campaign aims to reintroduce GoBiz’s comprehensive business solutions and to provide business knowledge for GoFood’s merchants. The campaign consists of the ‘Bincang Biznis' provisioning program, which is held offline and online in various cities, as well as the MAJU (Mitra Usaha Siap Jualan) program which helps new culinary merchants to get business assistance via online group discussions. The campaign also encourages culinary MSME partners to actively network and share business knowledge through Komunitas Partner GoFood (KOMPAG).
Nova Putra Legian, business owner of Fried Chicken Geprek Gian and representative of GoFood merchant, shared his experience using GoBiz app, “Every business solution on GoBiz app has really helped Fried Chicken Geprek Gian in terms of sales, operations, online payments option as well as accessing business education and training. As a result, Fried Chicken Geprek Gian is able to increase its sales up to three times despite the pandemic challenges. Thank God, now we have 24 branches in Greater Jakarta, with more than 50 employees.”
“Through the GoBiz #JalanPinterJualan campaign, we hope to continue to strengthen GoBiz’s role in helping culinary MSMEs develop their businesses online while at the same time fully supporting the government's program to digitize 30 million MSMEs by 2024,” Felicia concluded.
